5. A SAMPLE SPEECH. (Ramki will deliver this speech in the class, to demonstrate articulation,
voice modulation, gestures and eye contact with the audience.)
"Tension and Relaxation" (Duration: 10 minutes)
In a day's work the tension starts the moment you get in front of the mirror to
dress up. You look at yourself. You are not happy with your appearance. You think you are balding or if your nose had been a bit long or twisted to the right or left you might look better. If the fingers
werea bit more delicate, it would have certainly looked more elegant and so on.
Please remember that this body was given to you without your asking. You were not consulted in its manufacture. Literally,
you were thrust into it. It was not your choice. So learn to love it. Learn to live with it.
Without the body you are no body. Without the body you lack mobility.
Keep it groomed, feed it well, clothe
it and keep it healthy. Walk with pride. Be proud to show it around to everyone. Whenever you go out in the open, keep your head high, pull the chin in, keep your shoulders level and walk erect. Inhale a
lung full of fresh air. Be happy that you are alive this very moment. Just relax.
When you dress up to go to work or to a party or just to call on a friend, wear the clothes that you like most. Don't
worry whether Jack and Jill will like it or Mary and Maicy will make faces at you. It is none of their business. Dressing up is very much your business.
